The Haapsalu Horror & Fantasy Film Festival is a three day independent festival focusing of screening best films from the darker side of cinema from fantasy to horror, forgotten classics, filmmaker and country retrospectives, extreme films and celebrated guests in the unique setting of Estonia, a small country in northern Europe between Sweden, Finland and Russia.

The 8th HÕFF that ended on Sunday brought the best of last years’ genre movies to the audience. Over 2900 people visited the movie and party marathon lasting for 4 days. 2900 people is also the festival’s new audience record.
In HÕFF’s focus, the British director Ben Wheatley is without a doubt one of the kingdom’s most talented genre movie makers.
Haapsalu Horror and Fantasy Film Festival will award Hideo Nakata the lifetime achievement award for a remarkable contribution to fantasy cinema.
